USS Cowpens (CG 63), guided missile cruiser is at Russia to participate in Victory Day celebrations on May 9. The ship arrived at Vladivostok on May 7 on four day visit.
The 64th anniversary of Victory Day marks the final surrender by Nazi Germany on May 8,1945 to the Soviet Union on the Eastern Front of WWII, referred to as the Great Patriotic War in Russia and other former Soviet republics. USS Cowpens will represent the United States’ role in the victory by participating in a parade and laying a wreath of flowers at a memorial.
During the visit, the U.S. delegation will also meet with senior staff from the Pacific Fleet and take part in a number of cultural and sports events.
