turtle An MIT/WHOI graduate student, Stephen Licht has built an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) called Finnegan. Unlike conventional underwater vehicles that use propellers, Finnegan uses flapping foils to maneuver. The idea to develop this AUV with flapping foils has come from Myrtle, a 500-pound, at least 70 years old, green sea turtle at the New England Aquarium.

Here is the photograph of Finnegan, underwater robot turtle from WHOI.
