First Goodwill Visit of Chinese Navy Ship to Cambodia

Today (November 09), Cambodia celebrates 55th anniversary of independence. On this occasion, the first goodwill visit of Chinese Navy ship to the Kingdom of Cambodia is significant. PLA Navy’s ocean going training ship “Zhenghe” visited Cambodian port of Sihanoukville on November 05. The ship with 411 crew members under the command of Senior CaptainĀ  Yang Junfei, the commandant of the Dalian Naval Academy is on 9 days goodwill visit.

The ship built in Shanghai Qiuxin Shipyard was commissioned in 1987. The ship is further expected to visit Thailand and Vietnam. The ship in the past had visited Hawaii, Thailand, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India and Russia.

Some specifications of ocean going training ship Zhenghe are:

  • Displacement: 6103 tons
  • Main dimensions: length 132.07 metres, beam 15.8 metres, draft 4.8 metres
  • Power: 2 diesel engines of 7,200 horsepower
  • Speed: 17 knots
