The situation is highly pathatic. The Indian government should step in with more authority, The pirates wants ransom which the owners were not willing to pay. Under these circumstances the Indian goverment should intervene, pay the ransome and get its citizens released and it can keep the vessel in its possesion till the issue relating to the ransom money is solved. In kandhahar highjacking Indian govt., released a terrorist and secured the release of passengers. why not pay ransom for its citizens when nothing else seem to work. The IMO which has so many guidelines for merchant shipping for safety and security should activly involve in the issue and secure the release of the seafarers.Why not the IMO pool in a common fund from all the member contries to meet the payment of ransom,The IMO should help the seafarers and ensure safe navigation to avoid such highjacking incidents in future.I appreciate the courage with which mrs.Seema Goyal is handling the issue. All seafarers in Indian even if unitedly march to Delhi can do nothing, but the goverment of India can help if it deciedes to act firmly instead of wait and watch ideology. Thanks for the update. I am a sailor my self and could imagine what these crew memeber are going through. I really want to do something from my side to help those people. I have already called up various union for crew and officers from india. But they just dont want to move from thier chairs. As a indian myselef i feel ashamed that a biggest democracy takes so many days to decide to make thier citizen free. An look at the Irony. India has recently got the Necular deal. I want to convey this strong message, that a nation doesnt become developed by getting technolocy. It need the patriotism of its citizen and love for country. I wonder what the USA would have done or for that matter we have example of the french Navy, who made it clear that they value their citizen. And yes we have example of the Isrial. The did everything possible to get the dead body for thier soilder. India has a huge costlline. We import 80 % of our energy needs from the sea route. Indians seafarers are in demand worldwide. We spend a lot of money on our forces. And still i think its the most helpless country when it comes to strong decisions. please guide how can i help and support... Sir,
