Speedboat ‘Smokin Joe’ lands vertically in Wappapello Lake in southeast Missouri on May 18 due to strong winds while trying to overtake another competitor, during Budweiser Drag Boat Nationals race. Skipper Joe Peroceshi miraculously escaped with a shattered pelvis (seen in the photo).
