Komandor Islands, located 200 km east off Kamchatka is cut off by air or sea due to storms and bad weather since December 2007 and is running short of food supplies. Anatoly Krasheninnikov vessel carrying 50 tons of sugar, flour, meat and dairy products, fruit, vegetables and canned goods is yet to reach.
What is surprising is that it is relatively easier to maintain supplies to a space station but is extremely difficult to maintain supplies to an island.
