India Wins Gold Medal in Sailing in 4th CISM Military World Games

1. 4th CISM Military World Games:

The games are hosted by India. The Motto of the Games is ‘ Friendship Through Sport’. The event has started on 14 October 2007 and is expected to complete on 21 October 2007. The CISM Military World Games is the largest international military Olympic-style event in the world. In this fourth edition of the games, 101 countries and more than 5,000 athletes are participating. The games are boxing, diving, football (soccer), handball, judo, military pentathlon, parachuting, sailing, shooting, swimming, volleyball, wrestling, triathlon and track and field. The host cities are Hyderabad and Mumbai.


The Indian team comprising Commander R Mahesh, a high-flying naval pilot and Master Chief Petty Officer G L Yadav has won the Gold Medal in the Enterprise Class Sailing event which was held in Mumbai. The teams coming second and third are France and Spain respectively.

3. 5th CISM Military World Games:

Brazil, Rio de Janeiro city will host the 2011 World Military Games.
